What is a Salsa Meetup? A Salseros Unidos Meetup is a gathering of dancers who have a desire to practice new dance skills and techniques in a casual environment. The meets are very informal and the curriculum is established by the participants. opportunity to practice with dancers of equal or better skill level.
Why? The obvious benefit of attending a Salsa meet is that it is essentially a free Salsa lesson for some and a practice session for others. Experienced dancers are always looking for someone to practice with. Newer dancers can provide them with an eager practice partner, and learn something new at the same time.
In order to maximize the value of the meet, it is helpful if the participants are currently taking structured lessons from an experienced instructor, but not required. In order to insure maximum value of the meets, Salseros Unidos will limit participation to our members and their guests.
Where? Meets are usually held at a member's residence and are attended on an invitation only basis. Sometimes studio space is rented and the participants share in the nominal cost of renting the space.
When? Meetups can be very spontaneous or more organized and planned in advance. You may receive a text message from another member requesting a meetup with just an hour notice. In addition, some members may hold weekly meetups at a pre-established day and time.
